JURY SELECTION BEGINS IN TRIAL ON FATAL CRASH

Jury selection is to begin today in Lucas County Common Pleas Court in the trial of Theodore Williams, 56, of Ypsilanti, Mich., charged in connection with an accident last November that killed four members of one family. Judge Frederick McDonald said the presentation of evidence and testimony in the case will begin Monday.

Mr. Williams is charged with four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of involuntary manslaughter. It is alleged that he was operating under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. Prosecutors contend he crossed the centerline of Airport Highway near Raab Road and crashed head on with the car of Tyrone Scott, 27, of Secor Road. Mr. Scott and his nephew, Andrew, 5, were pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Scott's mother, Susan Scott, 52, of Dix Lane, and his daughter, Rachel, 7, both died a short time later. Lorin Zaner, attorney for Mr. Williams, has contended in pretrial hearings that his client's reported with injuries after the accident.
