The firm, which was formed over seven years ago, consists of founding partners Richard A. Carothers and Thomas M. Mitchell, along with partners William M. Coolidge, III, Regina B. Reid and John H. Zwald. Attorney Christopher J. Hamilton also serves the firm in an of counsel position. Collectively, the firm’s attorneys have almost 90 years of litigation experience.
The firm’s non-municipal litigation is split evenly between plaintiff and defense matters, which make us more effective advocates on behalf of all our clients. The attorneys handle cases in all levels of the state and federal courts in Georgia, as well as in a variety of administrative forums. The firm has participated in over 60 reported appellate cases and has successfully mediated more than 25 cases, as well as having handled scores of trial level and administrative matters.
Thomas Mitchell, Carothers & Mitchell’s primary employment lawyer, has been practicing for over ten years, including a two-year clerkship with a federal district judge. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in employment discrimination, FLSA and restrictive covenant disputes, and plaintiffs in ERISA matters. In addition, he advises small businesses, small cities and individual employees on a daily basis on a variety of matters.
