John Zwerling
John Zwerling, known as an aggressive criminal defense litigator, has a wide range of experience in complex grand jury, trial and appellate advocacy, including considerable knowlege in the area of Fourth Amendment search and seizure law and Fifth Amendment issues. John is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and served as President of the Alexandria Bar Association (July 2001 - June 2002). He was the founding President of the Virginia College of Criminal Defense Attorneys and is a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (Founding Member), and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Law (Legal Committee). John has also served as an Instructor, Forensic Expert Training, FBI Academy, as well as a member of the faculty for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Georgetown University. John has also served as a Liasison on the Task Force on Pretrial Release to compile the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice - Third Edition
Chris Leibig
Chris Leibig attended Falls Church High School in Falls Church, Virginia and graduated from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C, where he studied International Relations. He graduated from William and Mary Law School in 1996. During law school he worked for Public Defender's Offices in Washington, D.C. and Bellingham Washington. He has been a criminal defense attorney since 1996, beginning at the Alexandria Public Defender's Office, and then at his own law firm of Leibig, Moseley, and Dillard, P.C.(later Leibig, Moseley, and Bennett, PC). He joined John Zwerling's law practice in 2005. He was an Instructor of Legal Rhetoric at the American University Washington College of Law for the 2002-2003 school year, and has been a guest lecturer in criminal law and procedure at George Washington University School of Law. Chris has tried more than thirty jury trials and hundreds of non-jury trials in criminal cases. He has won acquittals on charges of murder, rape, object sexual penetration, robbery, malicious wounding, child sexual abuse, grand larceny, embezzlement, drug distribution, drug possession, forgery, D.W.I, and many others.
Andrea Moseley
Andrea Moseley graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and received her law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia. She was an executive editor for the Virginia Capital Case Clearinghouse at Washington and Lee. In the course of her work in the Capital Case Clearinghouse, she and the staff provided support to numerous attorneys involved in death penalty cases that were approaching trial. She has been a criminal defense attorney since 1998. She spent her first four years of practice in the Alexandria Public Defender's Office, which is widely regarded as the best in the Commonwealth. Andrea Moseley has represented hundreds of clients at trials in criminal cases. She has won acquittals on charges of murder, grand larceny, D.W.I., indecent exposure, assault on a police officer, drug distribution, drug possession, and various other criminal charges. In 2003, she was one of the first attorney's in Virginia to defeat the Attorney General's Office at the trial level on a petition to civilly commit a person under the new Sexually Violent Predator Act.
Stuart Sears
Stuart Sears joined Zwerling, Leibig & Moseley, P.C., as an associate in 2005, after having previously clerked for Zwerling & Kemler, P.C., while attending law school. During his tenure at the firm Stuart has represented individuals charged with serious felonies including rape, sodomy, accessory to murder, money laundering, robbery, fraud, and high-level drug distribution. Most of Stuart's practice is devoted to representing individuals charged with misdemeanors and felonies in federal and state courts including Alexandria, Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William, Loudoun, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg and Washington, DC. He has won acquittals on charges of robbery, assault and battery, disorderly conduct and other criminal charges in both Virginia and Washington, D.C.
