INJURED AT WORK AND NEED HELP?
If you have been injured at work, you have your health and recovery to deal with- not the many technical and procedural traps and games that employers and their insurance companies play in an effort to get you to compromise your rights. There are time limitations and technicalities within the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act that are a trap for the unwary.
You need an experienced and tough Pittsburgh Worker's Compensation lawyer to represent your interests to ensure that you are being treated fairly, getting all of what you are entitled to under the law, and in the end, ensure you have achieved the best possible result in your case, whether your issue involves disability, social security, head/back/neck injury, accidental death, construction accident, dog bite, or something different.. I am that lawyer.
My name is Dan Iler. I am a 1985 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and have been practicing law for 19 years. I am old enough to have a wealth of experience, but young enough to to still have the fire in the belly to aggressively advocate what I believe is right. The goal of my practice is to bring the law to the people in a personal, honest and knowledgeable manner. The focus of my practice is Workers' Compensation. I represent people- not companies. I have represented individuals in a wide variety of cases, including traumatic injuries to all areas of the body, psychiatric injury due to mental stress, occupational lung, heart and other diseases, scars and disfigurement of the face and neck, loss of use of arms and legs, off the work premises injuries and many other kinds of cases. I am a working class lawyer.
As a prospective client, I should tell you that this was not always the case, since when I was younger and out of law school I worked for a law firm that represented many of the coal mines in the area, as well as other large companies in workers' compensation cases. I do not represent companies anymore. However, that experience places me in the unique position of knowing what to expect from our opponents, putting us a step ahead of them. I know what they are thinking and what lengths they will go to to try to get you off of workers' compensation. I have several cases, on both sides of the fence, that have been reported in the appellate casebooks that provide guidance to Workers' Compensation Judges for the way the law is to be applied today.
In the 1990s, the Pennsylvania legislature passed several amendments to the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act that were designed to make Pennsylvania more "business friendly." So, you know who took it on the chin- you, the potential workers' compensation claimant. I know the way to tackle these laws and to ensure that you achieve the full range of your rights. Sometimes a settlement of the case may be the most favorable result, but unless you have an experienced workers' compensation lawyer, you may give up substantial rights that could ultimately cost you more than the value of the settlement.
I handle workers' compensation cases on a contingent fee basis, meaning that you do not pay me anything unless I obtain or maintain workers' compensation benefits for you.
