NEW YORK PERSONAL INJURY LAWYERS & ATTORNEYS
New York City, Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn
The Law Offices of Jonathan B. Nelson, P.C.

NEWSLETTER: The Law Offices of Jonathan B. Nelson, PC is celebrating its one year anniversary with its new name and new location. Despite the firm's growth, Jonathan Nelson, its founding member, is proud to retain a hands on approach to lawyering, "It may be an old way of doing business, but I still think it's the only way." At the core of this firm's philosophy remains the idea that we pride ourselves in providing personalized and individual attention to every client. We address each client's concerns with the importance they demand and treat each client with the dignity they deserve. Jonathan Nelson reasons, "People come to attorneys for help because they have found themselves in a situation that they feel they cannot handle by themselves. It's unfair to let telephone calls go unreturned or to let questions go unanswered. I feel their concerns and I understand their worries." |

In addition to counseling clients, Jonathan Nelson, recognizes that sometimes you have to fight the good fight. As a former Senior Trial Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney's Office, Jonathan Nelson is not afraid to push the insurance companies to trial if necessary. "I would much rather obtain an early settlement for my clients, but sometimes it's not possible because of the particular stance the insurance company is taking." In those circumstances, Jonathan Nelson can often be seen in court fighting for the rights of his clients.
A New Face at the Office, A Familiar Face at Home
We are pleased to announce a new addition to the firm. Linda Alster-Nelson joined The Law Offices of Jonathan B. Nelson, PC in mid-June. The similarity of the names is no coincidence. Besides being a great asset to the firm, Ms. Alster-Nelson also happens to be the wife of Jonathan Nelson.
Ms. Alster-Nelson has been handling almost exclusively lead based paint litigation, representing children on an of counsel basis for a local firm.
"I'm pleased that Linda has chosen a field that helps children. She is a great role model for our 16 month old daughter Montana." Jonathan Nelson prosecuted crimes committed against children in a specialized bureau at the District Attorney's Office.
Helping the Children Makes it All Worth While
An important part of our practice has always been the cases that involve your children. Jonathan Nelson continues to be an advocate of children's rights and has fought to enforce those rights when injuries occur. Our firm has been able to collect significant recoveries for these injuries.
It is crucial to be able to recognize when our children have been injured. Sometimes the injuries may not be as obvious as a cut, a broken bone or complications during delivery.
Other things to be on the look for include:
» Behavioral
Problems
» Learning
Disorders
» Hyperactivity
» Attention
Deficit Disorder
» Autism
» Seizures
» Retardation
» Cerebral
Palsy
These symptoms could mean the presence of a brain injury. If you are concerned that your child suffers from any of these symptoms, consult your doctor immediately. Your child's health is the most important thing.
Then come and talk to us about your legal options!
Insurance Companies Victimizing the Victims?
A recent trend of some insurance companies has been to deny valid claims in order to prolong the process so that it can hold onto its money as long as possible.
The end result, of course, is that the victim does not receive just compensation for his injuries until sometimes years after the accident.
Although many will say that you cannot force the insurance company to put pen to paper to write a check, there is much to be done to aggressively fight this all too common practice and recover money for the victims.
At Jonathan B. Nelson, PC, we will not back down to these insurance companies. In fact, our strategy is to take the affirmative steps to take your case through the court process and to trial as quickly as possible.
The insurance companies may want to prolong your case, but our firm will not let them. Our clients' concerns are our concerns.
A Legal Analyst for CNN's "Burden of Proof"
If you thought that the face on CNN this past fall looked familiar, you were right. Jonathan Nelson was a returning guest on CNN's legal show "Burden of Proof."
Mr. Nelson was invited to speak about the Michael Skakel case where a Kennedy relative stands accused of killing Martha Moxley some twenty-five years ago. A few weeks later, Mr. Nelson was invited back to speak on the highly publicized "Puffy Combs" criminal trial being prosecuted in New York Supreme Court.
In both cases, Mr. Nelson opened that the Prosecution would have a very difficult time proving their case due to the apparent lack of physical evidence. Puffy Combs was acquitted on all counts while Michael Skakel's case has not yet been heard. Several months before Mr. Nelson appeared on "Burden of Proof", he was asked to conduct a chatroom on CNN.com relating to the Embassy Bombing Trial being conducted in New York Federal Court.
A transcript of that chatroom can be found at www.cnn.com
Thank You from Jonathan B. Nelson
I wanted to make sure that I thanked each and every one of you for the opportunity to be your attorney. It is through our relationship, based upon your trust, that has allowed my practice to grow and develop to where it is today.
I am proud of the progress we have been able to achieve together and hope that I will be able to help you, your friends and family in the future.
My professional goal is not to grow to be the largest law firm or even the richest, it is to remain an attorney dedicated to represent the individual clients who have seen fit to instill in me their trust.
I am honored by your patronage and I thank you for your continued trust. I look forward to hearing from you or your loved ones again in the future. May our paths meet again.
Thank you.
Summertime: Stay Cool, Be Careful
Now that the weather is getting warmer (finally), people are moving their activities outside. Remember, the sun can be extremely detrimental, especially to our children and to our elders. Staying hydrated is extremely important.
Summer is also the time that hospitals can see an increase in the number of injuries attributable to outdoor recreation.
We see injuries from everything from falling on a broken sidewalk while taking an evening stroll to automobile accidents on the way to the beach.
Please remember to stay alert, be careful and, of course, wear your seatbelt.
Sometimes, even the most careful among us cannot prevent an accident. If this should happen to you or your family member, please give us a call so we can help. 1-888-9-ATTORNEY
