Mark J. Markus is a graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law (rated as a "first tier" law school, in the top 21% of all law schools nationally by U.S. News and World Report--March 17, 1997). He has practiced general bankruptcy and insolvency law in the greater Los Angeles area since 1991 and has represented Debtors, Creditors, and Trustees in all aspects of bankruptcy proceedings in business and individual bankruptcy and reorganization cases. (This includes Chapters 7, 11, and 13).

He is a member of the Individual & Consumer Bankruptcy Subcommittee of the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Financial Lawyers Association, Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum, and is also involved in numerous other bankruptcy related organizations as well as the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.

Personal & Business Bankruptcy:

My practice is limited to bankruptcy courts in the State of California. Within California, I have set the following limitations on my representation:

First, determine whether you are a DEBTOR (someone who owes money and you are planning on filing a bankruptcy), or a CREDITOR (someone who is owed money and seeking to protect your rights against a debtor who filed a bankruptcy).

Chapter 7 representation for Debtors who reside, have a principal place of business, or have their principal assets located anywhere in California.

Chapter 13 representation for Debtors who reside, have a principal place of business, or have principal assets located in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo Counties.

Chapter 11 representation for Debtors who reside, have a principal place of business or assets located in Los Angeles County and parts of Ventura County.

I represent all Creditors, regardless of where the creditor is located, as long as the debtor involved filed their bankruptcy case in either the Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, Santa Ana, Santa Barbara, or Riverside bankruptcy court. (If you have the case number you can tell because the first two letters of the case number will be either "LA," "SV," "RS," "ND," or "SA").
